Golf
There are some magnificent 18-hole courses in the area, the large greens and impressive fairways synonymous with Peter Matkovich’s designs. Simbithi, Umhlali and Prince’s Grant consistently rank among the top courses in South Africa.
Snorkelling and Diving
Protected tidal pools and rocky coastline are home to over 50 species of fish, corals, a wide variety of invertebrates, and big shoals. Among the many colourful fish species, highlights include parrot fish, damsels, surgeons, butterfly fish as well as moray eels.
Surfing
Catch some waves with a group or private lesson. The surf here is mostly characterised by sandbars, reefs or a combination of both. There are numerous breaks and even some secret spots that are good fun for comfortable surfers.
Whale & Dolphin Viewing
From June to November, hump back whales migrate from Antarctica at the onset of winter, along South Africa’s east coast past Durban and onto the warmer waters of Mozambique and Madagascar, to breed and give birth. Other whales that can be seen along the Dolphin Coast are the southern right, sperm, minke and bryde.
Scenic Coastal Walk
The well-marked trail is approximately 9kms over varied terrain, some areas are rocky, others beautiful open sandy beaches. A great opportunity to view the migrating whales from June to November.
