great as a combination with Rhino Ridge safari lodge in Hluhluwe to make a perfect bush & beach combination.

truly an unforgettable experience and a stunning part of South Africa.

Anyone spending time at the Thonga Beach Lodge, situated in KwaZulu-Natal on the coast of Maputuland, will have the opportunity to explore one of the most pristine beaches still left in Africa. Sitting above a secluded bay, the lodge is surrounded by a stunning dune forest, and has a panoramic view of the spectacular beach below.

Guest accommodation consists of luxurious thatched bush suites, designed in such a way so as to provide complete privacy, and yet create as little as possible impact on the surrounding natural environment.

The water in the area is warm and crystal clear, providing some of the best snorkeling and scuba diving in South Africa. In addition, depending on the time of year, guests will also have the opportunity of seeing whale sharks, swimming with dolphins, and if they’re lucky, get to witness turtles laying their eggs on the beach. Also, Thonga Beach Lodge is just a short 25 minute drive away from Lake Sibiya, part of the iSimangaliso Wetland Park, which is an internationally recognized World Heritage Site.

One of my favourite spots in South Africa.
Accommodation is comfortable, food is good and service is great.
Very secluded. One can go for long walks on pristine beach and very seldom will you see anyone on the beach for miles (other than other guests from the lodge).
Excellent diving (close to Sodwana, world renowned dive location)
Want to go back soooo bad
